Pandemic EBT
Type of Project: Poster Design
Client: F.Y. Eye and Community Food Advocates
Design Objective: Design a public service announcement about EBT available during the COVID pandemic.
Design Notes:
We spoke with Community Food Advocates and learned that many families aren't making use of these funds and that it's often up to the students themselves to explain P-EBT to their parents.
In this first draft, I wanted the poster to look like a chalkboard and brought in some hand-drawn icons (created by Vecteezy).
As an alternative, I created this bright purple design and brought in a few small icons (designed by Freepik). This design wasn't working but everyone preferred this color palette.
I attempted to simplify the text and returned to the original drawings.
The team at Community Food Advocates thought the images should be grocery items, so I swapped images. I adjusted the language to be more inclusive, as students have guardians of all kinds.
For the final version, we decided the images could be bolder with a fill color and I also designed a new central image to make the main message a bit clearer. This design was broadcast on digital billboards around the city.
